Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY is currently looking for a passionate and dedicated leader for the Director for Nursing Recruitment and Retention.
The Director for Nursing Recruitment and Retention is responsible for researching, developing, implementing and leading multidimensional innovative recruitment and retention strategies for licensed nursing staff and other patient care support staff within the Nursing Department. This position also has oversight for the Nurse Residency Program, the Clinical Advancement Program and the Nursing Students/Instructors Clinical Experience Program. Responsibilities to include: Ensure customer focused approach is used in Nursing Recruitment function to include contact with all potential recruits; regular, timely and effective communications occur with hospital customers; develop an increased community awareness of Upstate's many opportunities as a place to work, specifically in the nursing community; develop and maintain contacts with local and regional Directors of Nursing Educational Programs; oversee coordination of Nursing Recruitment events and activities to include social media out reach, open houses, and unique opportunities for candidate exposure to Upstate Nursing, etc.; review and stay abreast of national, regional and local staffing issues and demographic trends and identify opportunities, recommend strategies for timely implementation to innovate recruitment efforts; monitor, direct and supervise staff to adequately carry out Nursing Recruitment and Retention functions; oversee and support the Nurse Residency Program Coordinator and work to ensure the Program's success at Upstate.

Bachelor's (or Master's) degree in Nursing and 5 years progressively responsible relevant experience to include leadership experience required.
