WellSpan York Hospital, the 580-bed flagship hospital of WellSpan Health, is located in York, Pennsylvania and provides a wide range of primary, secondary and tertiary services to residents of south-central Pennsylvania. As the dominant community tertiary hospital in the region, the organization has a long history of consistently strong operating performance and commitment to quality care including providing a Level One Regional Resource Trauma Center, a certified Comprehensive Stroke Center with endovascular neurosurgery capabilities, a certified Chest Pain Center, a level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), a high-risk pregnancy referral center, and many other advanced clinical specialties. The CNO/COO will have the overall responsibility and accountability for the patient care and operations at WellSpan York Hospital. Working in partnership with the Vice President, Medical Affairs, the CNO/COO has authority for the oversight of patient care services in both nursing and associated ancillary support services. As the lead nursing officer for WellSpan York Hospital, the CNO/COO is responsible for clinical policies, procedures and nursing practices throughout the organization and will guide the organization to attainment of Magnet designation. The CNO/COO will support the development, presentation and management of the annual operating plan and budget with the other members of WellSpan York Hospital executive team. The position actively participates in collaborative system-wide strategic and operational initiatives.
Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President WellSpan Health/President WellSpan York Hospital, Keith Noll, the CNO/COO will participate with the executive team and work collaboratively with leadership throughout the hospital to plan, promote and conduct activities that improve patient care, operations, fiscal performance, quality and patient satisfaction.
Candidates must hold an RN certification and be masters prepared in Nursing, Business Administration, Health Administration or related field with a successful track record of progressive, operational experience in leading an effective Nursing department, as well as clinical outcome operations, implementing current best practices. This role requires an emotionally intelligent leader who is highly connected and engaged with all staff and focused on contemporary nursing and operational clinical outcomes delivery. The CNO/COO will also have clear opportunity to support the WellSpan System nurse leadership in the development of system-wide nursing culture and services across the system.
