Graduation from a college or university accredited by the National League for Nursing or the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education with a bachelor's degree in nursing; plus three years of post-licensure experience as a nurse in an equivalent health care setting whose focus was primarily prevention services and community education, including two years in a public health/community health setting; plus at least one year experience in a public health/community health specialty area or supervisory responsibilities.
CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED:
Possession of current license or a multistate licensure privilege to practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia;
Selected positions or area(s) may require additional certifications (e.g., CPR, STD) to practice specialized Nursing skills;
Selected positions or area(s) of assignment may require the incumbent to possess a valid Motor Vehicle Driver's License.
Three or more years of public health experience. A master's degree in public health. Bilingual with experience working with culturally and ethnically diverse clients. Ability to take initiative in developing intervention strategies designed to promote the health of population served. Ability to function on a multidisciplinary team and work collaboratively with CHCN providers to jointly meet the needs of the population served. Ability to work independently and communicate effectively using written, verbal and electronic methods. Results driven, detail oriented, and demonstrate effective and customer oriented communication skills.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
The appointee to this position will be required to complete a criminal background investigation, a Child Protective Services (CPS) check, a driving record check, and an Office of Inspector General (OIG) verification to the satisfaction of the employer.
Ability to drive a vehicle.
Position frequently communicates and must be able to exchange accurate information with others verbally and in writing.
Ability to walk, stand, sit, bend, kneel, reach, climb stairs and carry equipment or young children up to 25 pounds in weight. Visual acuity is required to read data on a computer monitor. Ability to operate keyboard driven equipment. All duties performed with or without reasonable accommodations.
