The Dean of the College of Nursing is the chief administrative, executive, and coordinating officer of the College. He/She will provide leadership in administering all facets of the College, its programs, future directions, faculty and student affairs, curriculum, and resource development. The individual will provide leadership in the development of the College, including setting a vision, identifying goals and developing a plan of action to achieve excellence through the Strategic Planning process with faculty. This position reports directly to the Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost.
The successful candidate must have an earned doctorate (PhD or DNS or DNSc) from an accredited institution; a master degree in nursing if the doctorate is not in nursing; eligibility for South Carolina nursing licensure; and a distinguished record of professional, community and university service; record of research and scholarly productivity commensurate with rank.
Candidates must demonstrate a previous record of academic administrative experience, strong leadership and organizational abilities, along with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders and the demonstrated ability to facilitate student/faculty collaborative service and scholarship. This individual will possess effective interpersonal skills with experience in an academic health science center environment strongly preferred.
