Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, is currently seeking an experienced Chief Nursing Officer to join our team! The CNO will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
Establishing, integrating and maintaining uniform standards of care, and developing hospital-wide patient care programs, policies and procedures.
Developing nursing division strategy and achieving fiscally responsible operational performance and quality objectives.
Assessing patient satisfaction; managing the development, direction and operation of the nursing and patient services division to provide high-quality patient care; and continuing to foster an environment of patient satisfaction excellence.
Implementing and ensuring the inclusion of patient safety and quality programs to monitor, evaluate and improve the quality of nursing care delivered to patients for the areas of responsibility.
Assessing and improving the division’s performance through organization-wide performance improvement activities.
Directing the development of budgets and other management planning and control tools.
Defining the organizational structure within nursing services and relevant areas. Managing the selection, development, evaluation and compensation of key nursing personnel.
Participating in the development of an organization that values and fosters nursing education, nursing and multidisciplinary research, succession planning and a professional practice environment.
Maintaining the legacy of Magnet designation.
Ensuring continued compliance with state, federal and accrediting agency regulations and standards for nursing, and establishing improvement activities aimed at maintaining compliance.
Responsible for the leadership and function of the nursing and patient services division, departments assigned and overall quality of nursing care
Supporting the institution’s overall mission, vision and values of patient care, community outreach, research and education, the CNO will plan, organize, direct and evaluate nursing care and provide strategic and operational leadership at the executive level.
Accountable for advancing nursing practice across the organization to ensure the delivery of care that is consistent with the highest contemporary standards for patient satisfaction, HCAAP performance and quality outcomes.
A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive leadership experience, ideally in an academic medical center, major teaching or multi-site healthcare system.
Fiscal acumen demonstrated by the development of annual budgets reflecting staffing, capital and other operating expenses, and successful management of those budgets.
Experience functioning both as a member and a leader of a multi-disciplinary team in tackling issues of quality, patient safety, patient satisfaction and resource allocation.
A deep understanding of clinical methodologies and standards in other large healthcare delivery organizations, and a passion for staying up-to-date with state-of-the-art nursing practices.
Experience leading change management, in particular the approaches and methods of process improvement, including planning, setting priorities, systematic performance assessment, implementation based on such assessment, and sustaining achieved improvement.
Participation and/or leadership of the Magnet journey are required.
Union experience is required.
A master’s degree in nursing is required; an M.H.A., M.B.A. and/or doctoral degree in nursing or in active pursuit of a doctoral degree is a plus.
