The Director of Nursing Research coordinates, manages and provides subject matter expertise in the development, design and implementation of nursing research projects across Baylor Scott & White Health (BSWH). The Director manages multiple research projects and teams and makes the challenge of research a reality for staff nurses. The Director provides leadership in provision of training and consultation to support individual or teams in research projects that promote and advance the use of research-based practice. In addition, the Director provides leadership in the translation of research findings into nursing practice and the profession to promote evidence based practice across the BSWH System. Data Analyst and Nurse Scientists will either direct or matrix report to this position. This position will advance Nursing and Interprofessional research across the System to align to BSWH Mission/Vision/Values and promote optimal staff and clinical outcomes. This position scope of responsibility is BSWH System and will require travel. Other essential functions of the role include the following:
Collaborates with chief nursing officers and other nurse leaders, including staff nurses, to identify nursing research studies that align with the strategic direction of the organization.
Develops educational programs supporting translation of the research process into practical steps for nursing staff, supporting professional growth and skill development.
Leads the development and design of research studies; serves as an expert in research design, methodologies and processes in collaboration with nurse scientists across the system.
Responsibility for maintaining system registry and annual reporting of all Nursing Research & Publications
Provides knowledge and expertise in the area of statistical and qualitative data analysis.
Develops or assists in the development of curriculum relative to research; conducts training and/or oversees delivery of training.
Partners with the BSWH Foundations to develop proposals to fund nursing research initiatives.
Builds partnerships with local nursing schools to promote collaboration on research projects among faculty and BSWH nurses.
Leadership in collaborating with CNOs and Magnet Coordinators in meeting research requirements for Magnet designation to ensure all organizations are meeting Magnet Standards for Nursing Research.
The ideal candidate will have knowledge and expertise in the area of nursing research studies, annual reporting, funding and grant proposals, collaborating with various constituents and members of leadership and driving results. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication, leadership, and analytical skills.
