Temple University College of Public Health announces a national search for Director, Department of Nursing.
Temple University’s Department of Nursing, located within the College of Public Health (CPH), offers a unique opportunity for leadership in nursing education and research within a population health and prevention paradigm. The Department of Nursing is a key component within the College that brings together traditional disciplines focused on individual patient care within a public health framework. Through transdisciplinary research and interprofessional education, CPH students, staff and faculty embrace public health as a catalyst for individual and community change in pursuit of the common good. The College is experiencing enrollment growth, expanding interprofessional education, and growing funded health research. CPH faculty prepare researchers, practitioners and educators to collaborate across disciplines to understand community needs, create evidence-based solutions, and deliver effective, compassionate care. Nursing is an integral, important and valued component of the College’s future.
The College seeks an ambitious nursing leader to guide the growth and development of Temple Nursing, including continuing to grow its graduate programs and enhance its undergraduate program that incorporates a community home model. The Director will develop a strategic plan for the Department to incorporate and grow its educational programs in tandem with its research mission.
The Director will strategically plan for the future of the Department including an expansion of its graduate programs. The successful candidate will manage an annual budget and engage in entrepreneurial endeavors, including fundraising. This individual must possess vision, have an established program of research, and be committed to creating a collaborative work environment. A proven record of developing nursing education programs and an understanding of clinical practice plans is required, including evidence of administrative acumen.
Candidates will hold a Ph.D., or equivalent degree, preferably in nursing, public health or a related discipline and should meet the qualifications for appointment at the rank of Full Professor or Associate Professor. Candidates must be MSN prepared and eligible for professional licensure in Pennsylvania.
