Description The Department of Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant who will work with physicians and nurses in the practice to provide medical treatment plans for patients. The NP/PA will document patient history, perform a physical examination and make an assessment and diagnosis based on this information, as well as, initiate, review and revise treatment plans and record and present data in a manner meaningful to the supervising physician. Assists physician with interventional treatments, respond to incoming phone messages from patient and make call backs to patient reporting response to attending physician. Makes referrals to other healthcare providers and/or consult the physician for further definitive therapy, orders and evaluates appropriate non-invasive diagnostic tests and procedures. Instructs and counsels patients on health care, health maintenance, medical problems, treatment plans, nutrition or other related issues as appropriate.
Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Nurse Practitioner: NYS license and certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Master's degree in Nursing or completion of a course for Nurse Practitioner. Current registration to practice as a Licensed Registered Nurse in New York.
Physician Assistant: NYS license and certification as a Physician Assistant. Bachelors' Degree for an accredited school of Physician Assistants.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Nurse Practitioner: At least one year clinical experience working as s Nurse Practitioner. Experience working in the following clinical areas: otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, surgical oncology. Experience working at an ambulatory outpatient setting.
Physician Assistant: At least one year clinical experience working as a Physician Assistant. Experience working in the following clinical areas: otolaryngology, head and neck surgery, surgical oncology. Experience working at an ambulatory outpatient setting.
