Westchester Medical Center, Department of Medicine, is seeking an experienced and collaborative Section Chief of General Internal Medicine (GIM). The Section Chief will be part of an academic, multi-specialty group practice (Advanced Physician Services) comprised of over 300 board certified hospital and office-based specialists throughout the region. Westchester Medical Center is seeking an exceptional academic leader to spearhead and continue to grow the section of general internal medicine, which includes an inpatient hospitalist group, a primary care outpatient faculty practice, and a primary care outpatient resident clinic. The Section is comprised of a collegial group of internists responsible for providing inpatient and outpatient services, consultative services, and teaching residents and medical students. The ideal Section Chief candidate should have familiarity with both inpatient hospital issues, providing operational oversight, as well as outpatient practice issues including PCMH and quality improvement initiatives.
Candidates must be Board-Certified in Internal Medicine with experience in clinical, administrative and educational leadership. Candidates should have demonstrated interest and expertise in mentoring and career development of faculty and residents.
In addition, candidates must have:
Doctor of Medicine (or equivalent) with five (5) years of clinical experience beyond training and at least one (1) year of administrative experience.
Staff and team management skills
Quality improvement experience preferred
Experience with scholarship and educational initiatives desirable
