The Department of Surgery, Division of Vascular & Endovascular seeks a Physician Assistant to cover Long Island Community Hospital vascular service. The Physician Assistant will provide first-assist support in the operating room, cover inpatient floors as well as cover the newly created vascular outpatient clinic across the street from the hospital. On an outpatient basis, the PA will assist physician in our clinics as needed; includes
History and Physical on patients, recording patient medical information into the EMR and writing progress notes. Coordinates pre-hospital evaluations for admissions and other aspects of hospital care with surgeons.
Provides follow- up post-operative/post procedural care under the authority of the attending physician and coordinates discharge planning.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: NYS license and certification as a Physician Assistant. Bachelor's degree from an accredited school of Physician Assistants. Master of Science in Physician Studies preferred. NCCPA certification, BLS certification, PALS certification, ACLS certification, ATLS certification.
1 + year of post graduate experience in a vascular/endovascular surgery
Master's Degree from AMA- approved Physician Assistant program

The selected candidates will be responsible for patient care and for teaching medical students, residents and fellows as well as students from other healthcare professions. This position serves as a health care professional who, under the direction and supervision of a licensed physician, provides health care to patients.
