To assist our patients through chemotherapy and infusion treatments, while ensuring safety and compliance. Other activities may include chemo teaching, chemo triage, scheduling and chemotherapy orders review and update.
Provide nursing care for patients requiring infusion therapy / chemotherapy
Administer hydration, iron treatments, injections, prescribed medications and chemotherapy treatments under the direct supervision of a physician.
Review daily schedule to properly plan on patient care and outline the infusion room plan, including drug mixing and reconstitution, starting IVs or accessing ports and PICC lines, closely monitoring new and existing patient infusions, and managing administrative activities of the infusion area.
Prepare and conduct chemo-teaching for patients and their family members addressing medical orders, treatment medications and their side effects.
Update the patient's Electronic Medical Record (EMR) during and after treatment.
Follow up on patient's labs/DI, medical orders, chemo orders, and make sure daily checklist is completed.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
2 years experience as a Registered Nurse (RN) in a Medical Oncology setting.
Current CA Registered Nurse (RN) License in good standing.
Current CPR/BCLS certification.
Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent patient relationship skills.
Experience with EClinicalWorks EMR suite is a plus.
