BRAND NEW ICU! The University of Minnesota Medical Center is opening a brand new Intensive Care Unit on the West Bank campus. This is a great opportunity to be a part of establishing this beautifully remodeled new unit from the ground up.

This 10 bed unit will provide care to a wide variety of critically ill adult patients. We expect to have a lower acuity initially with room to take a higher level ICU population as it grows. This will make for an ideal environment for ICU nurses with experience to use their leadership skills as well as novice nurses to gain critical care experience. This population may include respiratory failure, sepsis, overdose/withdrawal and post op surgical patients.

The RN will be responsible for close observation, hemodynamic monitoring, medication management, assistance with bedside procedures and respiratory support. Critical thinking and effective communication with all the members of the care team and families will be required.

About this position:

• 72 hours (.9 FTE) every two weeks on the day shift
• Benefit eligible
• 12 hour shifts, every 3rd weekend

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the assessment, planning, delivery, and evaluation of nursing care for all assigned patient population(s). The RN is responsible for performing these responsibilities in accordance with all policy, procedures, professional practice guidelines and the MN Nurse Practice Act. The RN coordinates care with members of the health care team and delegates responsibilities to others as appropriate.

Required:

• 1 year of med/surg RN experience
• MN RN License
• BLS required
• AD required

Preferred:

• BSN or higher preferred
• Certification in related specialty is highly desired
• One year adult critical care experience is preferred
• Certification by the American Association of Critical Care Nursing or in a related specialty is highly preferred
