This Registered Nurse position is located in the Primary Care Service at the Springfield, MA and Worcester, MA outpatient clinics. Notice: This is a temporary position, which may be extended or converted to a permanent position without further competitive procedures. THIS OPEN & CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT (OCA) ESTABLISHES A STANDING REGISTER OF ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS, which closes on June 28, 2021. The initial cut-off date for referral of eligible applications will be April 20, 2021 with subsequent reviews every other week as additional vacancies occur, or on an as-needed basis, until positions are filled. Please see the "What To Expect Next" area of the announcement which provides additional information on the referral process for this type of announcement. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis and qualified candidates will be considered as vacancies become available. This position will support the Federal Government's response efforts to COVID-19. The registered nurse provides care and counseling of persons or in the promotion and maintenance of health and prevention of illness and injury based upon the nursing process which includes systematic data gathering, assessment, appropriate nursing judgement, and evaluation of human responses to actual or potential health problems through such services as case finding, health teaching, health counseling,; provision of care supportive to or restorative of life and wellbeing; and executing medical regimens including administering medications and treatments prescribed by a licensed or otherwise legally authorized provider. The Nurse's primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, or community. The registered nurse, as a licensed professional, will be responsible and accountable for his/her practice. Responsible and accountable for all elements of the nursing process when providing and/or supervising direct patient care. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates care based on age-specific components. Assumes responsibility for the coordination of care focused on patient transition through the continuum of care, patient and family education, patient self-management after discharge, and supporting factors that impact customer satisfaction. Considers all characteristics of the individual, including age and life stages, state of health, race and culture, values, and previous experiences. Administers medications and procedures per establish policies and guidelines. Influences are outcomes by collaborating with members of the interdisciplinary team and core elements of performance include knowledge and active participation in unit/program level quality improvement processes and initiatives as well as customer service programs.
