Operations Officer/Nurse Manager is assigned to the office of the Associate Director Patient Care/Nursing Services. Applications received by May 18, 2021 will receive first consideration. Designated first-line supervisory authority, responsibility, and accountability for the Weekend, Holiday, Evenings, Nights (WHEN) supervisors, timekeepers, and other support staff assigned to the office of the Associate Director Patient Care/Nursing Services. Ensures that subordinate personnel provide timely nursing care which complies with generally accepted standards of clinical practice. This includes the authority to accept, amend, or reject the work of subordinates. Has continuing responsibility for all the following functions: Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work; Assigning work to subordinates based on priorities, selective consideration of the difficulty and the requirements of the assignments, and the capabilities of subordinates; Evaluating the performance of subordinates; Making recommendations for appointments, advancements, or reassignments of subordinates; Giving advice, counsel, or instruction to subordinate personnel on work and administrative matters; Hearing and resolving complaints of subordinates and referring more serious complaints not resolved to higher level supervisors; Recommending and/or taking disciplinary action where appropriate; and Identifying developmental and training needs of subordinates and providing or making provision for such development and training Also responsible for performance improvement, customer service/patient satisfaction, patient, and employee safety, interviewing applicants, employee relations, standards of care and practice, the work environment, and accreditation and regulatory standards. Actively develops and manages collaborative partnerships with physicians and other clinicians. Responsible for time scheduling of subordinates, coaches' staff, deals with employee conduct and performance issues, completes recurring reports and performance evaluations in a timely manner. Participates on service and medical center committees and task forces to improve nursing practice and patient care. Identifies educational needs of staff and ensures that these needs are addressed. Has an integral role in supporting and facilitating student nurse clinical experiences, as well as orienting new Nurse Managers. Works in partnership with the union and adheres to EEO principles. In the absence of a Nurse Manager, a cross-covering Nurse Manager will be designated to handle administrative and clinical issues, such as staffing coverage, granting leave, and patient and/or staff issues. Serves as the primary liaison to nursing service, SPS, and Stakeholder relations. Develops the need for and maintains an awareness of available resources, and makes recommendation to the AD PCS regarding needs, distribution, or redistribution of these resources. Full authority for a number of fund control points. Assembles and compiles budget information and maintains running account of funds located and expanded in all sub accounts and makes interim adjustments where necessary by applying the basic knowledge and understanding of budgetary policies, procedures, and regulations. Develops monthly and quarterly cost ceilings while maintaining running control of funds to ensure that accounts are within authorized levels. Prepares packages for resource management board requests and/or requests for funding from the finance and business operations committee. Provides for maintenance of data related to budget and expenditure estimates. Collects data and information necessary to prepare special and recurring reports. The incumbent is also the ADP coordinator and COR for the service line. Coordinates the workload of the nursing office with a full range of duties. Coordinates activities that impact on the services under the ADPCS. Directs, trains, and evaluates timekeeping personnel, adjusts workload, develops procedures for superior quality of work. Coordinates equipment and supply requests. Operates computer entry for purchase orders. Researches sources and develops justification for new and additional equipment. Prepares equipment request and provides suggestions regarding pending equipment priorities. Assures nursing office equipment is operating efficiently and makes recommendations for new equipment and usage. Controls and safeguards property charged to the services and conducts annual inventory and replacement equipment review. Coordinates the Equipment inventory listing annual review for the services under the ADPCS. Performs other related duties as assigned. Work Schedule: Mon-Fri, 7:00am-3:30pm. Responsible for 24/7 coverage of WHEN supervisor. Coverage must be flexible for staffing. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required
