The Clinical Research Nurse Study Coordinator (NSC) assumes continuing responsibility for the coordination, management, implementation, and evaluation of VA funded clinical trials with the VHA Research and Development Cooperative Studies (CSP) Program. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Educating medical staff about the study. Identifying eligible patients through VA administrative data (i.e. matching their SSNs with names in VISTA, and identifying their physicians.). Contacting clinicians to identify potential study participants, and contacting patients to complete screening and recruitment procedures. Organizing screening visit and obtaining informed consent. Conducting all baseline assessments. Arranging interviews and telephone contacts. Documenting reasons for study refusal, ineligibility, and termination. Clinical and source documentation. Obtaining randomized group assignments. Conducting all follow-up assessments. Obtaining data on hospitalizations and self-report measures. Assuring that all forms are accurately and completely answered and sent to the coordinating center in a timely fashion. Serving as the primary point of contact for all patients in the study at their site.
