The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a full time Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery Section of Surgical Service. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Occasional weekend coverage could potentially be required. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will function in the Otolaryngology Section within Surgical Service. The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is responsible for direct clinical care as well as direct support to the Otolaryngologic attending surgeons and house staff. The primary responsibilities for this position are in the outpatient clinical practice of Otorhinolaryngology - head & neck surgery but there could also be some responsibility for assisting in the operating room or as well. The Incumbent will help with coordination of Otolaryngologic outpatient and inpatient care and also assist other Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, resident trainees, and Registered Nurses as needed. Directly diagnosing, treating, and providing care and services for the entire scope of adult Otorhinolaryngology-Head & Neck surgery in the outpatient setting. Attendance at all required surgical, administrative, or section meetings. Coordinating the care of suspected or newly diagnosed head and neck cancer, including attendance at the multidisciplinary oncology board. Initial evaluation and education of patients. Evaluating referrals/consults for appropriateness of therapy; this could include electronic, phone, or telehealth consultations. Answering patient questions via phone or MyHeatheVet and triaging patient care calls. Comfort with performing procedures that fall in the scope of practice for an otolaryngologic NP/PA (on the job training will be provided for Otolaryngologic specific procedures).
