The Clinical rTMS Nurse Treatment Operator will provide repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) treatment and coordinate the patients mental health care during therapy. (rTMS) is a therapeutic treatment is primarily used for the treatment of adult patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder. The position is within the Mental Health Service of the Community Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) located in Billings, Montana and supports the mission of Montana VA Health Care System. Registered Nurses (RNs) performing rTMS for the treatment of mental health disorders shall do so under the supervision of an appropriately trained and licensed psychiatrist and/or Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. (rTMS) is a therapeutic treatment which administers alternating magnetic fields through the scalp to induce small electrical currents in the brain, primarily used for the treatment of adult patients diagnosed with major depressive disorder. Duties include but are not limited to the following tasks: Performs Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a therapeutic treatment under the supervision of the rTMS Psychiatrist/Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Provides precise measurements and astute observations to the rTMS psychiatrist/Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. Plans rTMS care individualized and tailored specifically to support each individual Veteran patient's needs. Performs Initial screening of veteran medication and psychiatric conditions, daily screenings of neuromodulation of patients, pre-treatment education, provides support to rTMS Psychiatrist/Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner during motor threshold (MT) determinations, gathers medical history and other required pertinent information prior to and during rTMS therapy; administers mental health rating scales and other assessments as needed for clinic patients, and conducts, coordinates, or orders various medical tests. Practices at an advanced specialty level. Provides float coverage for Specialty Clinic operations.
