The incumbent is a key member of the Surgical Care Line (SCL) and serves as the SCL coordinator, advisor, analyst, and administrative planner for the delivery of the health care services during the perioperative process. Provides leadership and expertise in the management of perioperative services. Participates in the decision-making process for clinical operations and other considerations within the SCL. Assists in the design, implementation, modification, and maintenance of clinical operations and quality management programs. Oversees surgical model development and program management, including workload, technical and operational elements, quality (surgical technique, surgical output, complaint resolution, VASQIP), and overall customer satisfaction. Works with surgical operation leaders, develops and manages surgical performance measures and metrics to drive continuous improvement and accurate reporting of surgical performance. Sets strategic direction for the SCL, including evaluating and launching new techniques and procedures to deliver evidence-based and quality care. Responsible for the provision of continuity of program activities, researching and interpreting internal and external policies, directives, survey standards, and regulatory requirements. Works collaboratively with Nursing leadership, Operating Room Nurse Manager, Associate Chief Nurse, Logistics, Quality Management, and other clinical support services, ensuring operation efficiencies and Veteran centric quality surgical services. Supervises administrative and Clinical employees within the clinical functional unit.
