This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after complete review of the EDRP application. Learn more The Telephone Triage Nurse applies clinical knowledge in illness, disease prevention and wellness, health risk assessment, psychiatric mental health care and principles, self-care management and health education. The nurse uses telecommunication devices and clinical decision support tools/programs for application of the nursing process. The nurse utilizes approved clinical decision support tools to identify emergent situations and initiates the necessary interventions. Provides telephone triage to the Veterans that receive care at the hospitals and clinics within VISN 5 and 6. Veteran's health concerns can be psychological and/or physical in nature. The nurse functions as an expert communicator over the telephone, providing timely, appropriate advice and/or guidance to Veterans who seek assistance with health care issues. Work Schedule: Rotating shifts, with hours ONLY on weekends, evenings, nights, and holidays. Telework: Available pending supervisor approval and fully successful orientation.
