The APRN is professionally and clinically accountable to the Associate Chief Nurse Mental Health for nursing practice; and accountable to the physician preceptor for clinical privileges and programmatic protocols. Duties include: Delivers safe nursing care according to the Scope and Standards of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Practice and guided by Recovery Principles and the Wellness Enhancement and Recovery Program (WERP) nursing model. Holds expertise to effect a change in practice preceding improved outcomes and communicate changes to other providers in the facility. Effectively demonstrates leadership for care rounds/chart review and/or discussion of practice issues to improve outcomes specific to veteran care Conducts review of patient care plan with less experienced staff to address ethical issues for client and/or staff, Serves as a resource and advocate for protection of patient/family rights such as confidentiality, self- determination, and alternative treatments. Demonstrates care coordination to use resources judiciously and achieve optimal outcomes for veterans/families. Serves as a consultant/resource to other advance practice nurses related to application of evidence-based information to the design, implementation and evaluation of a treatment plan for veterans with complex or unusual problems. Provides an example of resourceful/creative use of supplies, equipment and availability of data/information. Synthesizes data and information to prescribe necessary system and community support measures including environmental modifications. Develops solutions for veteran problems that address effective resource utilization and maintenance of quality care Role-specific competencies are verified and documented in accordance with facility policy.
