Ambulatory Surgery Center (Arringdon) Morrisville, North Carolina
Monday-Thursdays (4/10 work schedule no weekends)
Primary job duty will include operating the Femto Laser for eye procedures at ASC Arringdon and supporting the ophthalmic team in the operating room. This position will report into the Assistant Nurse Manager of the Operating Room.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform all responsibilities in a manner that demonstrates Service Excellence towards patients, physicians, peers and other departments. Assume responsibility for upholding the policies and procedures of the department and organization.
Demonstrates eagerness to learn, takes direction, adapts to changes within unit, and demonstrates consistent progress toward Level II.
Establishes and maintains sterile field and assures team maintains sterile environment. Demonstrate and practice a good understanding of sterile technique.
Has a basic knowledge of instrumentations. Prepare Operating Room with appropriate instrumentation, equipment and supplies.
Demonstrates correct and safe instrumentation passing and performs sponge, needle and instrument counts in a safe and accurate manner.
Maintain technical skills to serve a patient population comprised of infancy to geriatric clients.
Perform preliminary screening examinations for physician review including, but not limited to, central and peripheral visual field tests; ocular motility tests; color vision tests; pharmacological pupil tests; tonometry, tonography and tensilontonography tests to determine intraocular pressure and pupil testing for size, equality and reaction prior to dilation.
Examine the cornea, lens and anterior chamber of the eye using a slit lamp and note variations from normal.
Support the flow of patients between the procedure rooms and laser room.
Open to learning setting up instruments for ophthalmic surgical procedures; assist operating room when necessary.
Assume responsibility for self and ensures that the policies, procedures and safety practices of the Operating Room and Hospital are reinforced.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Scrub ability preferred (not a requirement)
Knowledge of laser usage preferred (not a requirement)
Knoweldge of assistant process/procedures preferred (not a requirement)
Work requires completion of Ophthalmic Technician training and certification as a certified Ophthalmic Technician by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO).
