SUMMARY OF POSITION:
This specialized trauma and resuscitation nurse will have the opportunity to work in the state of Pennsylvania's only combined Level I adult and pediatric trauma center. Nestled within a faced-paced, high acuity Emergency Department, 30 bed Surgical ICU, and 18 bed Pediatric ICU, the specialized trauma nurse will provide expert level care in the resuscitation of over 4000 trauma patients annually. The trauma nurse will support the Milton S. Hershey Medical trauma program by facilitating specialized care in the resuscitative phase with further focus on trauma documentation compliance, proper triaging of patient's entering the system, and throughput of trauma patients throughout the Emergency Departments. Specialized training will focus on advanced trauma courses to include TNCC, ENPC, and ATCN while forming a foundation of expert knowledge of patients from neonates through geriatrics.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Bachelor Degree or equivalent experience (4 years).
In order to be compliant with Magnet and other nursing objectives, all in this job must enroll in a Bachelors of Nursing program within six (6) months of date of hire. Completion of a Bachelors of Nursing program within four (4) years of date of hire.
Minimum five (5) years of clinical experience ED/Trauma or ICU (Pediatrics or Adult) expertise.
Currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse by Pennsylvania Board of Nurse Examiners required.
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) &/or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)&/or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN).
