Roberts Wesleyan University, located in Rochester, NY, is seeking an Academic Dean for the School of Nursing. The Associate Professor/Professor who fills this half-time role will also serve half-time in teaching and/or additional administrative roles. The mission of the School of Nursing at Roberts Wesleyan University is to advance the profession of nursing through education, practice and scholarship within a supportive Christian academic environment. The school has over 200 students in a prelicensure baccalaureate program, an online RN to BS degree completion program and online graduate programs in Nursing Leadership & Administration, Nursing Education and Primary Care Family Nurse Practitioner programs. Candidates for this position will join a faculty committed to excellence in nursing education in a suburban area of Rochester New York. Support and enhancement of the education of the students; contribute to the campus community; and support the institution and the overall strategic mission of the University
Governance of the School of Nursing’s faculty and staff,
Serving as a member of the Academic Cabinet
Providing effective leadership and direction, and support in establishing, communicating and achieving short and long term goals and initiatives to promote the mission of the School of Nursing and University
Facilitating relationships within the School of Nursing and with other campus offices.
Oversight of curricular implementation and academic assessment in the School of Nursing
Overseeing compliance with NYS Higher Education, Professional Program Accreditation and University Accreditation
Interfacing with academic life of the college and supports student activities
Overseeing faculty hiring, training, orientation, and evaluation
Making final decisions on faculty loading based on input from department program directors
Facilitating resolution of complaints and grievances.
Developing and providing oversite for School Budget in alignment with the strategic plan
Teaching in one or more programs in the School of Nursing
Earned Doctorate in nursing or related field from an accredited institution recognized by the US
Current and unencumbered Registered Nurse license in NYS
Strong commitment to the integration of Christian faith and professional practice
Exhibit multicultural competence and show strong commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Excellent personal communication, computer skills, and professional manner
Creative and innovative
Proven leadership skills in higher education
Five years of successful academic teaching experience with increasing levels of academic leadership in higher education
Consistently present on campus
