Job Summary
This position involves a variety of tasks, not limited to provision of clerical support for the Pre-surgical Testing Department (PST.) This employee prepares and maintains pre-surgical records and serves as a facilitator for communication between Surgical Services Departments. This position will care for patients in all age groups. The employee performs duties in accordance with Population Specific Guidelines and adheres to National Patient Safety Goals as outlined in policies and procedures.

Ability to work with other departments and general public
Ability to operate MPAC, DCR System, PHS, CardioServe, Milner System, and computerized documentation tool as appropriate
Essential Tasks and Responsibilities
Ensures the pre-operative patient's chart is complete prior to the day of surgery and delivered to the appropriate unit.
Collects results of labs, X-rays, and EKG's done in PST and places these results on the chart.
Fax abnormal results to the Surgeons and places the abnormal results for anesthesia to review.
Reviews the chart for complete and up to date H&P, appropriate consent, and orders. Notifies the Surgeon's office if any are missing.
Requests the results of additional tests as deemed necessary by anesthesia or the PST Nurse.
Checks the chart for completeness and notes any additional tests of forms needed on the communication sheet.
Communicates with Short Stay Surgery/Outpatient Surgery what charts are needed for next day surgery.
Maintains an up to date schedule for next day surgery.
Communicates with Short Stay Surgery/Outpatient Surgery as to what is needed to complete a chart for next day surgery. Makes every effort to collect missing forms prior to sending chart to Short Stay Surgery/Outpatient Surgery.
Accurate documentation on chart on what chart needs to be completed and what actions have been taken to obtain these items.
Runs surgery schedule twice daily and checks schedule with charts available.
Requests print results of lab, EKG and X rays.
Prints medical Records from HPF as deemed necessary by the Nurse or Anesthesiologist.
Assists in making patient charts
Reviewing Charts for Completion
Review of diagnostic results
Communication of diagnostic results to RN and Anesthesiologist and Surgeons office
Schedules PST appointments
Operation of FaxCert System
Performs venipunctures and vital signs
Obtains patient medical records in outlying facilities
