We are growing fast and looking to have an enthusiastic Surgical Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/SP) join our team.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Surgical NP/PA works closely with the supervising physician to coordinate a course of treatment for patients: perform histories, physical exams, order and collect lab and diagnostic studies and interpret data to formulate a diagnosis and treatment plan. The Surgical NP/PA will also perform procedures such as first assist in surgery for a variety of surgical procedures, including but not limited to Orthopedics, OB/GYN and General Surgery, and will perform any other procedures as assigned by supervising physician. This may include pre and postoperative care, patient and family education regarding medication, treatments and surgical experience and discharge. Communicates effectively with surgical team. This position will require a 4-day,10-hour shift and will include some weekends, but will have potential for a 3-day,12-hour shift in the future.
Current California Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant license
Current Basic Life Support Certification
Graduate from an accredited Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant School
Three to Five (3-5) years of surgical experience as an operating room circulating nurse in Orthopedics, OB/GYN and General Surgery.
Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant
Evidence of continuing education and self-development to support license requirements
Board Certification: Board certified by the National Certification Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants/Nurse Practitioners.
Familiarity with CMS’ documentation requirements to demonstrate medical necessity, DRG reimbursement and MCC and CC capture.
Familiarity with inpatient only and outpatient only surgery lists.
Knowledge of insurance and Medicare and Medi-Cal documentation and coding requirements.
